the doctrine, whether it be of God, or

“14 But I have a few things against
thee, because thou hast there them that hold
the doctrine of Balaam, who taught Balac to
cast a stumblingblock before the children of
Israel, to eat things sacrificed unto idols,
and to commit fornication. 15 So hast thou
also them that hold the doctrine of the
Nicolaitans, which thing I hate.” (Re
2:14-15 KJV)
K. Christ warns against false doctrine.

“All scripture [is] given by inspiration
of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for
reproof, for correction, for instruction in
righteousness:” (2Ti 3:16 KJV)
B. Our coming together is to be for profit, but
doctrine being one of the key reasons
“Now, brethren, if I come unto you
speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you,
except I shall speak to you either by
revelation, or by knowledge, or by prophesying,
or by doctrine?” (1Co 14:6 KJV)
C. Right Doctrine requires obedience
“But God be thanked, that ye were the
servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the
heart that form of doctrine which was delivered
you.” (Ro 6:17 KJV)
D. We are to give heed to doctrine
“Till I come, give attendance to
reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.”
(1Ti 4:13 KJV)
E. We are to hold fast the word, and teach
sound doctrine

hath been taught, that he may be able by sound
doctrine both to exhort and to convince the
gainsayers.” (Tit 1:9 KJV)

sound doctrine:” (Tit 2:1 KJV)

of good works: in doctrine [shewing]
uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,” (Tit
2:7 KJV)
I. Obedience to doctrine with keep the Lord
from being blasphemed

yoke count their own masters worthy of all
honour, that the name of God and [his] doctrine
be not blasphemed.” (1Ti 6:1 KJV)
J. Doctrine must be taught in an orderly
fashion

together, every one of you hath a psalm, hath a
doctrine, hath a tongue, hath a revelation,
hath an interpretation. Let all things be done
unto edifying.” (1Co 14:26 KJV)
K. We must know doctrine so that we are not
carried about with false doctrines

children, tossed to and fro, and carried about
with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of
men, [and] cunning craftiness, whereby they lie
in wait to deceive;” (Eph 4:14 KJV)
L. We are to put men in remembrance of sound
doctrine

thyself—delieverance for sin” and
the saving of others—saving from hell

doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this
thou shalt both save thyself, and them that
hear thee.” (1Ti 4:16 KJV)
N. Paul had taught them doctrine, now he moves
to application. Doctrine unapplied is
valueless.
“1 ¶ Therefore leaving the
principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go
on unto perfection; not laying again the
foundation of repentance from dead works, and
of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of
baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of
resurrection of the dead, and of eternal
judgment.” (Heb 6:1-2 KJV)
O. We are to know good doctrine so that we are
not carried about by false doctrine.

strange doctrines. For [it is] a good thing
that the heart be established with grace; not
with meats, which have not profited them that
have been occupied therein.” (Heb 13:9
KJV)

doctrines

Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou
mightest charge some that they teach no other
doctrine,” (1Ti 1:3 KJV)

recompensed for teaching doctrine.

counted worthy of double honour, especially
they who labour in the word and
doctrine.” (1Ti 5:17 KJV)
S. We are to preach the word because there is a
time coming when men will not endure sound
doctrine.
“2 Preach the word; be instant in
season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort
with all longsuffering and doctrine. 3 For the
time will come when they will not endure sound
doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they
heap to themselves teachers, having itching
ears;” (2Ti 4:2-3 KJV)
T. We are to mark them which cause division,
which is contrary to sound doctrine.

which cause divisions and offences contrary to
the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid
them.” (Ro 16:17 KJV)
“(Touch not; taste not; handle not;Which
all are to perish with the using;) after the
commandments and doctrines of men?” (Col

vile persons

themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for
liars, for perjured persons, and if there be
any other thing that is contrary to sound
doctrine;” (1Ti 1:10 KJV)
V. One of the characteristis of Last days is
doctrines of devils, false doctrine

faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and
doctrines of devils;” (1Ti 4:1 KJV)

other than the doctrines of our Lord, and
godliness.

not to wholesome words, [even] the words of our
Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is
according to godliness;” (1Ti 6:3 KJV)
V. Bible Doctrine and the Apostle John
A. What you doctrine is will reflect upon your
relationship with Christ and God.

not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He
that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath
both the Father and the Son. 10 ¶ If
there come any unto you, and bring not this
doctrine, receive him not into [your] house,
neither bid him God speed:” (2Jo 1:9-10
KJV)
