That same spring a couple from Georgia who have become kindred spirit to the core congregation of Grace Baptist Church, challenged us to begin the completion. They got us started by making it possible to finish out the new lobby between the old and new buildings with paper, paneling and carpet. And by December, Terry Havener, a local Christian drywaller, taped and textured that ceiling for us. That was the beginning. Anticipating God’s further provision Pastor Miller and Brother Don Parks removed the makeshift lighting installed for the homeschool athletic league to practice basketball and replaced them with donated “brewery cord” lights. The basketball keys painted on either end of the long building by the Miller girls remain to this day.

In December 1998 a portable baptistry was ordered, purchased in January of 1999 and shortly installed and put into immediate use. Pastor Miller, no longer bi-vocational, had been putting long hours into leading a small cadre of believers in passing out tracts and fliers. The area canvassed included a sector from Shiloh, up Broadwater to 24th Street, south to King Avenue and back to Shiloh. Needless to say, it took awhile to reach these 2000 homes.
