So Great Salvation

“How shall we escape, if we neglect so great salvation; which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard him;” (Heb 2:3 KJV) /p>

To often we become as J.H. Jowett says “ So fully busy about the Holy place and yet lose the wondering sense  of the Holy Lord,” This may also be true about our salvation. We become so caught up with the commotion around us that we forget the sense of wonder and amazement and the thrill that God could love me. Let us look back for a few moment at what we have in salvation.

I.   We think of the greatness of Him that saved us.

A.   He is heir of all thing

Hath in these last days spoken unto us by [his] Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; (Hebrews 1:2).

1.    Therefore because of this great salvation  were a are Joint  heirs

Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. (Romans 8:12).

2.    Not Just to Spiritual blessing but to all things because we are joint heirs

3.    The inheritance is not divided , but ours in partnership with the Heir of All thing.

B.    The Maker of the World

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether [they be] thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist. (Colossians 1:16-17).

1.    He formed and controls the world

2.    This being true we know that as His children  what we ask He is able to perform.

C.    He is the brightness of His Father’s glory

Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high; (Hebrews 1:3).

1.    Let us rejoice because we shall be come as He is.

Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is. And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. (1 John 3:1-3).

2.    We now need to reflect that glory in our life.

For ye were sometimes darkness, but now [are ye] light in the Lord: walk as children of light: (Ephesians 5:8).

D.    He is the express image of the Father

1.    How great to think such a one as this would put on the garment of the flesh

2.    Humble himself to die on the cross

Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross (Philippians 2:5-8).

E.    He upholds all things by the power of His word.

1.    If he spoke it the world would come crashing down around us.

2.    His word will destroy, thousands of thousands at his coming.

3.    The book of the revelation reveals that during the seven year preceding his coming 1/2 of the world population will die. 3 billion plus people.

4.    His word keeps us save for His wrath.

F.    Our Salvation is great in the one who saves us but it is also-

II.    Great when we think of what we are saved from.

A.    An awful condition

1.    Children of the devil

Ye are of [your] father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. { of his own: or, from his own will or disposition} (John 8:44).

2.    Now Children of God

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together. (Romans 8:14-17).

B.    From the guilt and dominion of sin.

[There is] therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Romans 8:1).

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. (Romans 8:15).

Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God. (Romans 8:21).

C.    From the wages of Sin–Death, Hell, Corruption

Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal [must] put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where [is] thy sting? O grave, where [is] thy victory? { grave : or, hell} The sting of death [is] sin; and the strength of sin [is] the law. But thanks [be] to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 15:51-58).

D.   From the wrath of God.

And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, [even] Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come. (1 Thessalonians 1:10).

E.    Great is this salvation when we think of the happy when we think–

III.    The Happy Position into which He has saved us.

A.    Brought into the Family of God

B.    Justified from all thing

Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ: (Romans 5:1).

C.    This of the past are forever forgotten

As far as the east is from the west, [so] far hath he removed our transgressions from us. (Psalms 103:12).

D.    Made heirs of eternal life.

E.    Having the promise For the life that now is, and is to come

Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your own bowels. (2 Corinthians 6:12).

F.    Great when we think of–

IV.    The unspeakable Price that was paid for our salvation.

A.    Not of corruptible things, But His own precious blood.

Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, [as] silver and gold, from your vain conversation [received] by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: (1 Peter 1:18-19).

B.    But now that you have it, now that you have looked once again at this great salvation

V.    What are you doing with it.

A.    We are commanded to work out our salvation with fear and trembling

Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. (Philippians 2:12).

B.    Are you living like one who has this so great salvation.

C.    If you do not know that you have this Great salvation-Why not.

1.    Is it pride,

2.    Is it ignorance

3.    Is it foolishness

4.    Is it lack of faith

5.    Why have you not turned to the Lord He did so much for you.
